Methods:Autopsyrecordsweresearchedtoextractcasesofpulmonarytumorembolisminducedbymetastasisof gastriccarcinomaintheTohoUniversityOmoriMedicalCenterfrom2000to2006.Andthen,tissuesectionsof extractedcaseswerepreparedfornotonlylightmicroscopicobservationbutmorphometricanalysiswiththeuse ofselectedPTTMcases. Results:SixautopsiesinvolvedPTTMandclinicopathologicaldataofthemweresummarized.Therewasa significantnegativeassociationbetweenpulmonaryarterialdiameterandstenosisrateinfourcases.Althoughall casesshowedanincreaseofstenosisratetosomedegree,thedegreeofstenosisratevariedfromcasetocase. Significantdifferenceswerefoundforaveragestenosisratebetweentheunder100micrometergrouporthe100 to300micrometergroupandthe300micrometergroupinfourcases.However,nosignificantdifferenceswere foundforaveragestenosisratebetweentheunder100micrometergroupandthe100to300micrometergroup inallcases.Meanwhile,allcasesshowedpositivereactivityfortissuefactor(TF),fiveshowedpositivereactivityfor vascularendothelialgrowthfactor(VEGF),andthreeshowedpositivereactivityforosteopontin(OPN). Conclusions:Inthepresentstudy,werevealedthatthedegreeofluminalnarrowingofthepulmonaryarteries variedfromcasetocase,andourresultssuggestedthatpulmonaryhypertensioninPTTMoccursinselectedcases whichhaveawidespreadpulmonarylesionwi
