In particular, crm modulates the effect of temperature on a genomic region encodingHedgehogandWinglesssignalingeffectors.crmaffectsthisregionthroughbothconstitutiveheterochromatin andPolycombsilencing.Furthermore,weshowthatcrmEuropeanandAfricannaturalvariantsshiftthereactionnormsof plastic traits. Interestingly, traits modulated by crm natural variants can differ markedly between Drosophila species, suggestingthattemperatureadaptationfacilitatestheirevolution.
