Methods:WeusedtheBQSdatasetroutinelycompiledtoexamineperinataloutcomesinGermanynationwide. Participationofhospitalsandcompletenessofdatahasbeenabout98%inrecentyears.Dataonalllivebirthsand stillbirthswereobtainedfortheperiod2004to2007(N=2,670,048).Wecalculatedcrudeandstratifiedmortality ratesaswellascorrespondingrelativemortalityrisks. Results:AsignificantlyelevatedstillbirthratewasfoundforwomenfromtheMiddleEastandNorthAfrica(incl. Turkey)(RR1.34,CI1.22-1.55).TheriskwasslightlyattenuatedforlowSES.Anelevatedriskwasalsofoundfor womenfromAsia(RR1.18,CI1.02-1.65)andfromMediterraneancountries(RR1.14,CI0.93-1.28).Noconsiderable differenceseitherinuseandtimingofantenatalcareorpretermbirthandlowbirthweightwereobserved betweenmigrantandnon-migrantwomen.Afterstratificationforlightforgestationalage,therelativeriskof stillbirthforwomenfromtheMiddleEast/NorthAfricaincreasedto1.63(95%CI1.25-2.13).Whenadjustedfor pretermbirthswithlowbirthweight,womenfromEasternEuropeandtheMiddleEast/NorthAfricaexperienceda 26%(43%)higherriskcomparedwithwomenfromGermany. Conclusions:WefounddifferencesinriskofstillbirthamongwomenfromMiddleEast/NorthAfrica,especiallyin associationwithlowSESandlowbirthweightforgestationalage.Ourfindingssuggestaneedfordevelopingand evaluatingsociallyandculturallysensitivehealthpromotionandprev
