Research on the Application of Children’s Picture Book in English Teaching of the Junior Class in Primary School   Abstract: Childrens picture books is a kind of new form of children’s literature with pictures and words. For junior class, it has become a hot spot to put childrens picture book into English teaching in the research of second language acquisition. Based on the practice of junior class’s English teaching, the study explores the educational value of the application of picture book in junior English teaching. Key Words: Childrens Picture Book; Immersion Instruction In recent years, some English teachers begin to pay close attention to childrens picture book. Children’s picture book, as a kind of proper material, offers opportunities to put the students into the real language environment: teachers and students communicate with each other in English, English words, English sentences, colorful pictures and so on. Immersion Instruction is a kind of effective teaching method in second language acquisition. The purpose of this paper is to explore suitable ways for English teachers who work in primary schools to make good use of children’s picture book in English teaching. 1 The Basic Introduction of Children’s Picture Book Picture book is originated in Europe in the 17th century. In 1658, the Czech educator Comenius published Graphic in the World, which is considered one of the earliest illustrated book in the world. In the 1930s, America leads the art of picture book into the golden age. In Asia, the first trend of picture book was in Japan in the 1950s. In the 1970s, picture book was introduced into China, Taiwan. The arrival of the era of reading promotes the development of picture book in China. The special focus of children’s picture book is on the internal connection of words and pictures to achieve a balance. The words and pictures in children?s picture book make the perfect fusion to express the emotion and theme. 2 The Educational Val
