Categorization p169 Categorization is the process in which ideas and objects are recognized, differentiated, and understood. People use categorization as a way to make sense of what is around them, especially when they feel overwhelmed with information. Research has demonstrated that people remember things much better if they are categorized and the type of categorization does not really matter. From the age of 7, we begin to automatically do this.
