The Development of Prepainted Steel for Construction in Baosteel Ren Yuling, CHU Shuangjie, Li Zhengrong (Cold Rolling Plant of Baosteel Branch, Shanghai 200941，China)the entire world was analysized in this paper .The advancement about the new products and the technologies for buildings of prepainted steel in Baosteel was also introduced. Key words: prepainted steel; building; coating 1 The development of prepainted steel in the world The prepainted steel was ascended to 1930’in the American; the shutter was the first usage. After the prepainted steel begun to use on the building in the 1950’, the yield has increased rapidly in the American, and the prepainted steel was developed in Europe and Nippon because it was convenient and environment friendly also. The total yield of prepainted steel in the world has achieved 17MT; the data statistics by ECCA (European coil coating association) and NCCA (National coil coating association) have shown in table 1. The prepainted steel has been used in construction, automobile, appliance, furniture, package etc. the building is the maximum use in the world that the proportion is 65.3% in 2004。 TABLE 1 The production and end-use of prepainted steel in the world in 2004 The yield of the prepainted steel in the world increased 39.2% from 1999 to 2004. although the yield of NCCA decreased and ECCA went up（fig1），the quantities of the ROW(rest of world) rose rapidly. China has become the booming zone in the world.① The production of prepainted steel began in 1980’ in the mainland of China，the color coating line(CCL) of Baosteel is the one of the earliest line. The application of prepainted steel was difficulty in China in the initial of 1990’ because people lack the knowledge on prepainted steel in construction. The consumption rose very slowly in that time（fig 2）.A few years later, the convenience had been realized in construction, the method of process and installation had been developed.
