4. Loan Words The use of loanwords is another distinct lexical characteristic in news. When mentioning foreign things, loanwords are always applied in order to attract readers’ interests and express the connotation[k?n?te??(?)n] of the word more appropriately. Example tycoon—— A wealthy and powerful businessperson or industrialist（巨头；工业巨头)（Japanese) rendezvous—— A meeting at a prearranged time and place (聚会地点；约会地点）(French) tai chi chuan—— A Chinese system of physical exercises originating from Taoism, with a smooth and beautiful combination of eloquent ,fluid and balanced movements, designed especially for self-defense, meditation and a way to spiritual perfection such as integrity, serenity and dignity. Vague Words 模糊词语是指具有不确定的外延的词语，其模糊性是语言本身所固有的。许多语言中都有大量的模糊限制语，如汉语的“大约”、“左右”、“也许”、“大概”、“说不定”等；英语中的about，probably，many，more or less，roughly，somewhat，basically，almost，in a sense，relatively，commonly等。 At least 35 people died last week when a truck erupted in flames deep inside the Mont Blane tunnel that links France and Italy.
