Check to know the English level of the students by some well selected questions, such as: try to say something about your experience of English learning in high school. / Please list some your hobbies? / Detail your expectations in learning this course. Or simply brief self introductions. Vocabulary learning: a. quickly read and explain the words by use of examples or comparisons. b. Correct the mis-pronounced. Especially those with prefix and suffix. c. Synonyms and antonyms: dismantle ,dismount, disassemble, remove; d. Distinguish principle and principal; economic and economical e. Professions: ship chandler, captain, chief engineer and more about their working relationship. Period Two 3. Ask some of the students for more information about their knowledge of engine room, boiler, lube oil ect. More for reference: About engine room: noisy, hazardous, dirty, complicated, sophisticated …. About boiler: working principle, generate steam, burning fuel, drive other equipment … Patterns Drills: Listen to and repeat the recordings. Carefully listen and try to catch the key parts. Reading after the teacher first to ensure the correct pronunciation and right intonation of each pattern. Reading the patterns in pairs, preferably between the seat-mates. make the
