Method 　The principal component analysis based on published data related to China food safety from 2000 to 2005 was used to standardize all extracted indexes , calculate the correlation coefficient matrix. Three representative principal components were obtained after calculation of initial eigenvalues (total , % of variance and cumulative %) , a series of indexes was identified from the results of component score coefficient matrix. The weighted values were calculated from % of variance for each identified index. The food safety comprehensive evaluation index was the sum of each index times its weighed value .
