单爪螨;;发育;繁殖development and the reproduction of Mononchellus mcgregori Abstract 【Objective】The cassava green mite, Mononychellus mcgregori is a newly established pest mite on cassava in China. It also did harm to rubber tree and have increasingly threatened to rubber industry. Recently, it was recorded in cassava-planting areas in Yunnan, Guangxi and Guangdong where it caused significant damage of 40-60% fresh root yield of cassava. Humidity was one of the important ecological factors for the development and the reproduction of Mononychellus mcgregori. 【Method】In order to determine the potential distribution and analyze its invasion, diffusion and ecological adaptation mechanisms, this study investigated the effect of humidity on the development and reproduction of the mite pest in the laboratory. 【Results】 The humidity had significant effect on the development and reproduction of M. mcgregori (P<0.05). The suitable humidity for the development and reproduction ranged from 70% to 90%. The hatching rate, the fecundity and the longevity of female adults significantly decreased at 55% and 95% RH. The developmental duration at 65% was significantly prolonged than that at 75%~85%. However, the hatching rate the fecundity and longevity of female adults were not significant different between 65% and 75%~85%. 【Conclusion】The ecological adaptability were the precondition for the establishment and spread of their population. This study would provide a theoretical basis and reference for the researches on the ecological adaptability and effective monitoring. Keywords Mononchellus mcgregori; hum
