Developmental Process and Suggestions of Cotton Industry in Hunan Province

Abstract: At fi rst, the main achievements of Hunan Province in cotton breeding and cultivation techniques since the founding of People
Republic China were summarized after introducing the status and the importance of Hunan cotton industry. Then, it analyzed the main
problems in Hunan cotton production in terms of cropping system, cultivation techniques, variety breeding and seed industrialization. In
the end, it put forward some suggestions for stabilizing and developing cotton production in Hunan Province, such as comprehensively
reforming cropping system for cotton field, gradually promoting complete mechanization for cotton planting, and continuously
strengthening variety breeding.
