At present, there is still lack of effective means and drugs for the treatment. The author used self Katai intestinal granules in 19 cases of the disease treatment, obtain satisfactory result, report as follows now. 1 general information 1.1 case selection With persistent recurrent abdominal pain, bloody mucus, accompanied with different degrees of systemic symptoms (few constipation or no blood). And colonoscopy (including mucosal biopsy), barium enema examination are consistent with the diagnostic criteria of ulcerative colitis [1]. 1.2 clinical information A total of 36 patients were enrolled from the Tianmen anorectal Hospital from 1993 to 1997. The patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. There were 19 cases in the treatment group, including 9 males and 10 females. The control group consisted of 17 patients, including 12 males and 5 females. Age 15~60 years, average age 38 years old. There was no significant difference between the two groups in age, sex, course of disease and severity of the disease.
