The article comes to the following conclusions.The development of world martial artshasturned towardsJapan;the reform of Japanese martial arts hasachieved aperfect combination of fight and culture,the material andthe spiritu- al;perceptionsabout ethicsandeducation,traditional oriental cultureandadvancedfighting ideasareimportantrea- sonsfor Japanese martial arts to become the benchmark for the whole world;the internal spirit of Japanese martial artsfillsthevoidofwesterncompetitivesports,andhasledtotheirpopularizationinthewest;abalancebetweenin- novativeness and tradition iswhat the Japanese martial artsreform aimsfor.Successin the reform of Japanese mar- tial arts should provide inspiration for martial arts reform in China.
