浅谈《多佛海岸》旋律美 　　【摘 要】马修 【关键词】旋律美；节奏；音韵 一、引文 马修1822-1888）是英国维多利亚时期著名的诗人和评论家。他所倡导的“诗歌即人生批评与文化批评，在英国的文坛及思想界占有显赫的地位。《多佛海滩》以一种宁静哀婉的曲调、潮起潮落般的韵律，表达了诗人在面对当时社会生活急剧变革、古代文明沦丧和传统道德崩溃时所产生的迷茫和困惑。 《多佛海滩》是一首精致优美而极富创造力的诗歌，从颜色、光亮和声音全方位、多角度展现出多佛海岸的美。该诗歌包含作者的思想感情和丰富的想象，具有鲜明的节奏、和谐的音韵，富于音乐美。阿诺德的《多佛海滩》应用了音乐节奏理论，在音美方面的艺术成就极高。 二、全诗韵律美 Dover Beach The sea is calm to-night. The tide is full， the moon lies fair Upon the straits； on the French coast the light Gleams and is gone； the cliffs of England stand； Glimmering and vast， out in the tranquil bay. Come to the window， sweet is the night-air！ Only， from the long line of spray Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land， Listen！ you hear the grating roar Of pebbles which the waves draw back， and fling， At their return， up the high strand， Begin， and cease， and then again begin， With tremulous cadence slow， and bring The eternal note of sadness in. Sophocles long ago Heard it on the Aegean， and it brought Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow Of human misery； we Find also in the sound a thought， Hearing it by this distant northern sea. The Sea of Faith Was once， too， at the full， and round earth’s shore Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled. But now I only hear Its melancholy， long， withdrawing roar， Retreating， to the breath Of the night-wind， down the vast edges drear And naked shingles of the world. Ah， love， let us be true To one another！ for the world， which seems To lie before us like a land of dreams， So various， so beautiful， so new， Hath really neither joy， nor love， nor light， Nor certitude， nor peace， nor help for pain； And we are here as on a darkling plain Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight， Where ignorant armies clash by night. 全诗分为四节，每一节包含的行数不一样。第一节有14行，第二节有6行，第三节有8行，而最后一节有9行。其中第一节内容和行数最多，节奏变化最快，体现出的旋律美也最为突出。 该诗的第一节中的前六句诗描绘了一幅海面宁静、太平而和谐的画面。一切景物都随着诗中的“calm， full， fair， tranquil”
