Based on the improved fast calculation method of electromechanical mode eigenvalues the paper gives characteristics of power systems with uniform damping. Then the paper analyzes damping characteristic of power systems, the essence of damping LFO of controllers and puts forward the condition of realizing uniform damping. Finally making use of uniform damping thought, the paper gives design objects of controllers— uniform damping which make every mode have the same damping, which is converted into the pole collocation problem of multi-machine excitation controller. Because the control goal is to make every mode have the same damping, which avoids decreasing damping of other modes in excess and realizes the coordination of multi controllers. At last, take the IEEE 4-machine system as example, the comparison with the accurate pole collocation proves the control method put forward validity and robust, the method has a good application foreground.
