However, China has to spend a large amount of foreign exchange to im- port die steel and dies from developed countries annually. Several problems concerning development of die steel in- dustry are analyzed, including: the foreground of die steel market, the status of plastic die steel, the approaches to improve the die steel quality, the relationship between the quality and the standard for die steel, the acceleration of developing new high-quality die steel, and the creation of famous national brand of high-quality die steel, etc. The viewpoints may be of large reference value for metallurgical corporations and die industry to establish the die steel development plan.
