摘要:中学英语教学的目标之一是培养学生的听、说、读、写能力,其中最重要的是发展学生的阅读技能,为今后学习和运用英语奠定基础。

作者简介:杨官锋,男,1997年毕业于西安外国语学院英语系,现年38岁,中教二级。多年担任高三英语教学工作,高考英语成绩突出,连续多年被评为校、县、市级优秀教师。现任教于陕西省安康市二中。
According to the requirement of the New English Course Standard of Senior High School, the goal of English teaching in middle schools in our country is developing students listening, speaking, reading and writing, mastering the basic skills of speaking and writing in practice, laying particular emphasis on the students reading skills so as to pave the way for their further learning and using the language properly. Especially, in senior high school, students are required to master the basic skills of reading and writing in practice; to be able to use 3,500 vocabulary with a certain number of phrases and idioms to read independently the popular materials easier than the texts with help of a dictionary. Meanwhile, with our country science and technology developing quickly, English is getting more and more important and required to be learned in middle schools all over the country.
Considering that cultivating the skills of reading has been a major task being discussed among teachers to improve students reading comprehension. Here, so I will put forward the teaching methods of my own on how to train students to improve their extensive reading comprehension ability in my teaching experience.
Above all, as is well-known to all, interest is the best guide in whatever a student does. Thus we English teacher should obey the following reading rules in mind when preparing extensive reading materials: (1) we should take the studentsrsquo; interest and enthusiasm for reading into consideration first, so the selected materials should be interesting in order to encourage studentsrsquo; reading motivation. (2) The extensive reading materials must be within the studentsrsquo; understanding level to make students feel
