US-ChinaForeignLanguage，ISSN 1539-8080 September2014，Vo1．12，No．9，712-727 … … N6 ThePeasantIdentityinZHAO’sComicSketchesinthe PerspectiveofMulti--modalityTheory ZHANG Ting—guo，SHILi-na YantaiUniversity，Yantai，China Inrecentyears，theresearchonidentityhasbroughtaboutagreatimportanceinsociolinguisticresearch．However， thereserachontheconstructionofpeasantidentityincomicsketchesorinreallifeisrare．Thetopicofthisresearch is“ThePeasantIdentityinZHAO’sComicSketchesinthePerspectiveofMulti—modalityTheory”，whichisfor thepurposetoexploretheconsturctionofZHAO’speasantidentityinhisperformances．Thispapertakesboth quantitativeandqualitativeresearchmethodsandthedataofrtheresearcharecollected from ZHA0’scomic sketchesintheSpringFestivalGala．Basedonthemulti·modalitytheoryandforthepuprosetofindhowpeasant identityisconsturctedinhiscomicsketches，theresearchfindsthatZHAO’speasantidentityinhiscomicsketches couldbeconsturctedthrouhg thelanguage，bodylanguage，costumesandstagedesignmodalities，whichare revealedindetailinsection “ResearchResults”．Inaddition，thisresearchalsoachievesthefactthatpeoplecould usedifferentkindsofsemioticstocommunicatewitheachotherinreallife，na dbenefitsuswithaprettynew understandingofpeasantemotionandpeasnatidentiyt inChina．Whatismore，itenablesustoperceivethat languagecannotonlyreflectpeople’slife，theirsocialactivities，butalsorevealpeople’ssocialidentity ． Keywords：multi-modaliyt，peasantidentity，comicsketches，bodylanguage
