We will implement major works on conservation and restoration of important ecosystems, and optimize the ecological security barrier system, and built the biodiversity conservation network. Yunnan province is the most abundant area of biodiversity in China, which is one of the most important focuses of global significance and the key Ecological Security Barrier in China. In view of the status of biodiversity in Yunnan, the paper discussed of biodiversity conservation effectiveness, and analyzed the existing challenges on biodiversity conservation in Yunnan. In addition, biodiversity conservation measures are proposed related to the existing problems and challenges in Yunnan province. Firstly, in situ protection system should be improved, and the establishment of the national park system should also be accelerated. Secondly, the ex situ conservation system should be strengthened to make the national strategic biological species and genetic resources better preserved.
