探討藥膳食材中的藥草萃取物對細胞之抗發炎活性 Use of cell-based assay for evaluating the anti-inflammatory activity of herbal medicines from medicinal foods徐軍蘭* Jiun-Lan Hsu* Fang-Pei Nieh** f0837@ccmtc.edu.tw 摘 要 許多藥用植物的,本選擇一些傳統中草藥、藥用植物和藥膳食材等藥草。NF-κB是一高誘導性的轉錄因子,在免疫系統中扮演著非常重要的角色,目前已知NF-κB發炎反應有相當的關聯性,在新藥的開發產業上,也以NF-κB作為in vitro篩選新藥的工具之一,故檢測NF-κB活性可作為篩檢藥草萃取物是否具抗發炎的方法。藥草的甲醇及正己烷萃取物分層NF-κB活性的成分,顯示這些成分有抗發炎的生物活性。NF-κB表現量的成分。本研究所獲得之結果,可對本土食用的一些藥膳成分之抗發炎功能有所了解,對設計或選擇藥膳食材提供有用的資訊。 關鍵詞:健康食品、抗發炎、免疫力、藥草萃取Abstract The appropriate use of medicinal herbs as our food materials is gradually popular in restaurant since they may contain anti-inflammatory or other biological activity. The main objective of this study is to hopefully evaluate and screen of active fractionated phyto-chemicals of specialty medicinal herbs for health food applications. NF-(B activation is thought to play an important role in the immune system. There are positive corrections between the NF-(B activity and inflammation. In the present study, we found that hexane and methanol soluble-related compound from several herbs acted as a strong inhibitor of NF-(B expression which induced by LPS, i.e. it conferred strong anti-inflammatory activity in cell-based assays. On the other hand, a water soluble fractionated extract of some herbs were functionally active for NF-(B expression. The results obtained from this study are expected to provide useful information on valuable baseline and specific guidance for the development of these plants as “health foods”. This study may also serve as a platform system for application of the phytochemicals from specific herbal extracts for immune systems as an approach for “alternative medicine”.
