1．be of＋抽象名词： 该短语常用来描述人或事物的特征，在句中作表语、后置定语或宾语补足语。常见类型有： (1)be＋ of＋抽象名词，相当于这一名词的形容词形式。能用于该结构的名词有：value, use, help, importance, difference等，这些名词前可用great, no, little, some, any, not much等修饰，以表示不同程度。 The camel is of great help to the Arab.(＝The camel is very helpful to the Arab)对阿拉伯人来说，骆驼很有帮助。 精 彩 语 句 常用句式 (2)be＋ of＋ size/weight/height/age/colour/opinion/ width/length/type, etc., 名词前一般加不定冠词或the same。这个结构中的名词没有相应的形容词形式。The two boys are of the same weight.这两个男孩一样重。 句型转换： ①The new dictionary is of great use to English beginners. →The new dictionary is ______________to English beginners. ②The success of the first space travel proved to be very important to mankind. →The success of the first space travel proved to be ____________________ to mankind. 答案　①greatly important　②of much importance 2．It is possible (for sb.)to do sth.有可能某人做某事。其中的It是形式主语，真正的主语是(for sb.)to do sth.也可以是that引导的主语从句。 possible/likely/probable构成的句型： 这三个词都表示“可能的”。但是它们可构成以下几个句型： It is possible(for sb)to do sth./It is possible that从句。 Sb./Sth. is likely to do sth./It is likely that从句。 Sth. is probable/It is probable that从句。 (1)(2011·山东高考)The two girls are so alike that strangers find ________ difficult to tell one from the other.
