Unit7 Films Grammar Teaching goals: 1.知识与技能: (1) To learn to use although/though (2) To learn to use so…that and such…that (3) To learn to use so that… 2.过程与方法:The same above 3.情感、态度与价值观:To use although /so... that / so that to talk feelings Important and difficult points: 1、重点:New words and phrases 2、难点:To use although /so... that / so that to talk feelings Teaching procedures: Step 1 Revise sentences with although so...that so that in reading Step 2 Grammar explanation (although/though) 1. Although 的用法 although/though用作连词, 意为“尽管, 虽然” , 常用于引导让步状语从句。让步状语从句表示即使出现在从句中的情况,主句动作仍然会发生,有“退一步说……”的意思。 although和though可用于句首或句中, 但不能与连词but同时使用,不过可与yet, still连用。 若主从句的主语相同, 且从句谓语含有动词be, 可将从句主语和动词be省略。注意:although和though在一般情况下可以互换使用。在口语中,though较常使用,although比though更正式一些。 e.g. I will try it, although I may fail. 即使我可能失败,我也要试一下。 Although /though (it was) snowing, it was not very cold. There is air around us, although we can’t see it. 2. Practice Mr Wu went to see My Fair Lady last Friday. However, he did not enjoy himself. Read the sentences below and find out why. Join the two parts of the sentences by using ‘although/though’. 1) I left early to avoid the rush hour/ there was a lot of traffic in the streets 2) I could not find a space to park my car / the cinema had a big car park 3) I finally got a ticket / my seat was in the last row in the corner 4) people kept coming in / the film had already been on for 15 minutes 5) I felt very hot / I only had a T-shirt on 6) some people were talking loudly / they were told to keep quiet 3.
