Step1.
Reading comprehension. Read the text paragraph by paragraph to get a view of the three levels of Kevin’s dreams.
1) Read Part1 –Kevin saw a great flood from the window of his flat.
2) Read Part2- Kevin tried his best to tell his dad and his best friend about the flood, but they paid no attention to it.
3) Read Part 3- In the end, the water came into people’s rooms and they finally started to notice the flood, but it was too late.
3. Analyze Kevin’s feelings while he ①saw his bedroom floor was a pool of water,
②decided to do something,
③didn’t get help from his dad and best friend,
④found his cries fell on deaf ears,
⑤saw people sit and stare at their computer screens,
⑥woke up and found that there was no water.
1.Guide students to finish related exercise in 25 minutes.
2. Help ss to get a clear view based on three parts of the text.
3. Enable ss to identify with Kevin. 1. Train Ss’ ability of reading in a limited time.
2. Train ss’ ability in understanding the text in different levels.
3. Enable ss to share the same feeling with the hero-Kevin.
