Unit3 Topic2 SectionA
Teaching aims and demands:
1 Lean words and sentence patterns about occupations.
2 Talk about inviting guests
3 Review how to ask somebody’s information and the corresponding answers.
4 Master the following sentence patterns.
A Glad to meet you.
B Please have a seat.
C What does your mother do?
She is a teacher.
D What do your parents do ?
They are both office workers.
Teaching procedure:
Step1 Review
1 Ask and answer between teacher and students. Review Topic 1 : Do you have a pen pal?
2 Work in pairs. Let the students talk freely in English to create a good learning environment.
3 Let a student come to the front to introduce his/ her friend to the class, then shake hands with classmates and say:
Glad to meet you.
Learn and master the word “glad”
Step 2 Presentation
Suppose the classroom is the teacher’s home. Put some chairs in the front . Invite some students home .Then practice the dialog with the students. Learn and master the new words and phrase: kid, seat, have a seat.
T: Welcome to my home, kids !Glad to meet you .
Kids: Glad to meet you too.
2 Let the students introduce each other , and review the following sentences.
This is…
Nice to meet you.
Glad to meet you.
3 Show a photo of the teacher’s family. Introduce it to the class . eg:
T This is a photo of my family. Look! This is my mother and this is my father. They are my parents. It’s me . Learn and master the new words: mother, father, parent.
4 Introduce the occupations of the teacher’s family, learn and master the new words : doctor, office, worker, driver, farmer, cook, nurse..
5 Ask and answer between teacher and students, lead into the new sentence pattern “ what do /does …do?” and the corresponding answers. For example:
T: I’m a teacher . My father is a farmer. My mother is a farmer, too.
S1 What do you do ?
S1 I’m a teacher.
T: what does your father do?
S : he is a farmer.
T What does your mother do ?
S She is a farmer t
