ClinicalresearchofHepatitisBvirusReactivationaftertransarterial chemoembolizationin patients with hepatocellular carcinoma【Abstract】objective:HBVreactivationisawell-knowandpotentiallylife-threateningcomplicationinchronicHBVcarriersreceivingsystemicchemotherapyforcancertreatment.Thecurrentguidelinesrecommendtheuseofpreemptiveantiviraldrugsforchroniccarriersundergoingchemotherapyorimmunosuppressivetherapyforhematologicmalignanciesandsolidtumors.ThisprospectivestudywasconductedtodeterminewhetherTACEcouldinducereactivationofHBVandexacerbationofunderlyingchronichepatitisBinHBsAg-positiveHCCpatients,andtoexaminepossibleriskfactorstoHBVreactivation.Methods:FromMarch2008toSeptember2011intheAffiliatedHospitalof LuZhou Medical College, 67HBsAg positive patients newlydiagnosedasHCCwereenrolledinthestudy,andtheclinicaldatawerestudiedretrospectively.Atotalof55patientswhoreceived126sessionsofTACEwereassignedastreatmentgroup;TACEwasperformedwithcis-platinum (60mg/m2), mitomycin (6mg/m2) or combined withadriamycin(20mg/m2)andlipiodol(5–25ml)orgelfoam;thecontrolgroup(n=12)includedpatientswhodidreceivesurgicalresection(3),percutaneousethanolinjectiontherapy(PEIT)(4),andconservativemanagement(5)duringthestudyperiod.Beforestudyentry,allpatientsunderwent baseline examinations including complete blood counts,prothrombintime(PT),a-fetoprotein(AFP)levels,liverfunctiontests,serumHBVDNAquantification,detectionofhepatitisBsurfaceantigen(HBsAg),anti-HBs,anti-HBc,HBeAg,anti-Hbeandanti-hepatitis Cvirus(anti-HCV),Follow-uplaboratoryexaminations,includingliverfunctiontest,commonbloodcounts,wereperformedBiweekly,HBeAgandHBVDNAquantificationwereperformedat4-8wkafterTACEinthecasegroup.Thecontrolgroupwasgiventhesamefollow-uplaboratoryexaminationsatleast4wkafterbaselineexaminations,TACEefficacieswasevaluatedinallpatientsafter1monthbydynamicspiralCTorMRIofforevaluationofresponseanddeterminewhetherTACEshouldbeperformedrepeatly.Allpatientswerefollowed-upnolessthan3months.Results:1.INtotal,HBVreacti
