AbstractThe produce of development zone is the specific industrial agglomeration area which implements the preferential policies and intrinsically links with the development of city.As a part of city,the development area effectively promotes urban industial upgrading,enhances urban radiation and matures urban functions.Development zones in China have experienced a tortuous development process,the contradictions and problems between the development zones and cities restrict its development.Facing the new situation and the opportunities ,chanllenges,the interaction between development zones and cities has become an urgent issue to solve.The coordinated development between them is the base of urban sustainable development.This paper discusses the development process of development zones(including initial stage,rapid development stage,stable development stage and the transition of development).It reveals the dynamic mechanism and discusses the process charactics of development zones respectively from industry,function,space.The interaction between development zones and cities is the future choice of restructuring and developping for the development zones.The law of the interative development along with the development of development zones is also showing some characristics.Industry revitalizes city,city revitalizes industry,industry integrates city,and ultimately integration.In the trend of interactive development,the papaer discusses the choice of the future trends from rhe industrial upgrading and transformation,multi-functional complex,spatial integration,facility sharing,environmental protection and other aspects.Finally,taking Wuhan economic and technological development zone for example,the paper makes a useful research and exploration to the relationship between development zones and cities,and proposes planning countermeasures of Wuhan economic and technological development zone.Key Words: developmentzone; interaction between development and city; process; trend
