What is the purpose of the BOC examination? To objectively discriminate between someone who can and cannot demonstrate minimal competence as outlined in the most current Role Delineation Study. Why BOC Certification? Only accredited, legally defensible, voluntary credential available for athletic trainers in the US. Provides “gold standard” definition for competent entry-level practice. Recognized as the standard by over 40 states. Role Delineation Study and the Educational Competencies? The Athletic Training Educational Competencies The JRC-AT requires that the Competencies be used for curriculum development and education of students enrolled in CAAHEP accredited entry-level athletic training educational programs. What is a “Role Delineation Study”? Sometimes called a “job analysis”. Provides the description of the performance standards by which entry-level athletic trainers are evaluated.
