Scholars in the academic circle hold different opinions on subject, but most of them agree that subject refers to who makes practice in the natural and social situation, while object refers to the real world that enters in the scope of practice of the subject.Subject in translation is just borrowed from philosophy. Of the three parties involved in the operation of translation, namely, the author, the translator and the reader, which one should be regarded as the subject of translation, and on whom the subjectivity rests? No consensus has been reached yet in the translation circle. Professor Xu Jun summarizes four kinds of opinions in his article “Creative Treason and the Establishment of Translational Subjectivity”, that is, (1) the translator is the sole subject of translation; (2) the author and the translator are both subjects of translation; (3) the translator and the reader are regarded as subjects of translation; (4) the author, the translator and the reader are all subjects of translation (2003: 10).
