Without their constant support and guidance during the hard process of the research, the completion of this thesis could be unimaginable  Abstract The Oprah Winfrey Show is the most famous TV talk show in America. Since September 1986, this program has played up to more than 3,000 episodes, ranking the first of the same type for 18 consecutive years and playing in 100 countries and regions. Taking five transcripts (King of Pop—Michael Jackson; Brokeback Mountain; Simon Crowell; Twilight; Richey Martin) from the show as the research subject, and with Sack’s classic turn-taking pattern as the theoretical basis, this thesis probes to verify whether this pattern could be suitable for the Oprah Show, with the focus on analyzing the differences of turn-taking strategies used by the hostess
