It mainly describes the development of Pip’s grown-up and thedisillusionment of his “great expectations”. Pip the hero undergoes the changefrom innocence to snobbishness and the change from arrogance to sincerity inhis character development. His change from innocence to snobbishness iscaused by the cruelty of bourgeoisie and the terrible educational condition of thetime and the change from arrogance to sincerity is caused by the dignity of theworking people and genuine friendship and fatherly love.
