AbstractLanduseandlandcoverisoneoftheimportantfieldsofglobalenvironmentalchangestudies.ShiyangRiverliesattheeasternpartofHexiCorridorinGansuProvince,andisoneofthreemainendorheicriversinHexiCorridor.Inthepastyears,influencedbyexcessivehumanactivities,severalecologicalandenvironmentalproblemsappearedinShiyangRiverBasin,includingthedecreaseofnaturalsupplyfromgroundwater,regionalgroundwaterrecession,landdesertification,soilsalinizationandvegetationdegradation.Atthesametime,greatchangesoflandusehavetakenplaceinstudyarea.SotheresearchonlandusechangeinShiyangRiverBasinishelpfulforunderstandingtheecologicalprocessandhuman’sinfluence,andcanprovideascientificreferenceofregionalsustainabledevelopment.BasedonthedataderivedfromLandsatTMimageryacquiredin2000and2010,withthehelpofGIStechnology,mathematicsmodelandlandscapeecologytheory,thelandusechangeofsevencountiesanddistricts(MinqinCounty,LiangzhouDistrict,JinchangCity,YongchangCounty,GulangCounty,TianzhuCounty,andSunanCounty)inShiyangRiverBasinwasinvestigated,includingthestructure,rateanddegreechangesoflanduse,andrelativechangerateandtransferoflandusetypes,aswellasspatio-temporalcharacteristicsofecosystemservicevalue(ESV),spatialgradientdifferentiation,andsensitiveanalysis.Theconclusionsareasfollows:Accordingtothedataofremotesensingin2000and2010,wefoundthelandusetypesinShiyangRiverBasinchangesignificantlyinthepastdecade,especiallyofcultivatedland,unutilizedlandandgrassland,cultivatedland,forestlandandgrasslandgenerallydecreased,unutilizedlandgenerallyincreaseandinthemiddleandlowerreachesofthedrainagebasin.ThespatialanalysisofESVshowedthatESVperunitareachangeswithanobviousgradientfromupstreamtodownstreaminthewholebasin,andtheorderofESVisTianzhuCountySunanCountyGulangCountyJinchangCityLiangzhouDistrictMinqinCounty.ESVintheupstreammountainareaisabouttwiceasthatinthemiddlereaches(upto800000yuanRMB·km2a-1),andthatinthedownstreamareaisthelowest(only150000-250000yuanRMB·km2a-1).AllthesensitivitycoefficientofESVontotalESVarelessthan0.5,
