Through the attendance management system, we can bring huger economic benefits and greater business competitiveness for the company. With the rapid development of computer technology, all kinds of time clocks, magnetic card attendance machine, IC card attendance continues to emerge, instead of the traditional way of manual attendance to attendance management into a new era. Face recognition is an identification technology which uses the unique biological characteristics of peoples faces to identify the identity automatically. Face feature is an unique identity and has the characteristics of inalienable with the human. Compared with other biological features, face recognition has the initiative, non-invasive, user-friendly, and many other advantages. This article describes an attendance system based on face recognition. Employees only need to stand before the camera equipment for a few seconds when they go on and off shift; the system can automatically identify the identity of employees and record the appropriate attendance. On development approaches, the system adopts the prevailing Rational Unified Process (RUP) idea. The method of iteration is adopted for the whole development procedure. This way solved the difficult that exchanged among expert, software designer and users, improved efficiency and quality of the system.
