AbstractBasedontheecologicalinvestigationofSouthYellowSeainthesummerof2008，thespatialdistributioncharacteristicsandenvironmentalfactorsofchlorophyllawerediscussed.Accordingtothehistoricaldataandthecharacteristicsofenvironmentalfactorsobtainedinthissurvey，thestudyareacanbedividedinto4districts:Changjiangdilutedwaterarea，nearshorewatermassarea，yellowseacoldwatermassarea，andmixedwatermassarea.Thedistributionofchlorophyllaindifferentwatermasseswasdiscussed.Combinedwithcharacteristicsofdifferentwatermasses，theinfluenceofenvironmentalfactorsonchlorophyllawasalsoanalyzed.Inthesummerof2008，theaverageconcentrationrangeofchlorophyllais0.43-4.54mg/m3ofeuphoticzone，andtheaverageis1.36mg/m3;Ingeneral，thevalueofchlorophyllaisdescendingfromYangtzeEstuaryalongtheChangjiangdilutedwater;theaveragevalueofchlorophyllainthenearshoreareaofthewestpartofthestudyareaisrelativelyhigh，whiletheconcentrationofchlorophyllainthemiddleandeastpartofYellowSeaislower.Thedistributionofchlorophyllaiscontrolledbytemperature，salinity，light，nutrientandotherenvironmentalfactors.Insummer，nutrientandlightisthemaincontrollingfactorsofchlorophylladistributioninSouthYellowSea.Temperatureandsalinityinfluencethedistributionofnutrientbyseawaterstratification，sotheyinfluencechlorophyllaindirectly.Themaincontrollingfactorofnutrientinsummerisphosphatelimitation.Insummer，theverticaldistributionofchlorophyllaofthesamplesinChangjiangdilutedwaterareaisinfluencedbyhalocline.Thepeakisinupperpartwater，andthenutrientisthemainfactorcontrollingthedistributionofchlorophyllainChangjiangdilutedwater.InNorthJiangsucoastalwater，thehighvalueofChlorophyllaisinupperpartwaterandthecontrollingfactorislight.Inyellowseacoldwatermass，thedistributionofchlorophyllaisinfluencedbynutrientandlight.Thepeakvalueisnearthenutricline;thecoreregionisatthebottomofeuphoticzone;themarginaldivisionisinthermocline，closetothecoldwater.Atmixedareaofdifferentwatermasses，chlorophyllamayhave2fluorescencepeaksinsomesamples.Thespatialdistributionofchlorophyllaha
