II II The Study of Shaoxing Theatrical Circles in Late Ming Dynasty Abstract As a spectacular phenomenon of chinese drama history, in Shaoxing, there appeared a group of remarkable playwrights and theorists during late Ming Dynasty, including Wang Ji-de,Lv Tian-cheng,Meng Chen-shun,Qi Biao-jia, etc. Their drama works were excellent and huge in numbers. Moreover, their theatrical theories had made a great impact in drama circles, such as Qu Lv, Qu Ping, Yuan Shang Tang Ju Ping. Under the influences of the romantic thoughts and practical thoughts, their works payed attention to genuine affection and layed emphasis on Ben Se(the concept here with meaning of nature,feeling,individuality,etc).Their works also characterized by criticizing the reality and returning to the tradition. A number of factors could account for the boom of Shaoxing drama circle, such as good cultural environment(including local drama tradition and geological factors), the influence power of cultral families, the association among these playwrights and theorists.
