PAGE PAGE VI ABSTRACT ABSTRACT ASN-GW is one of the most important network equipments in the WiMAX system. Nowadays, there are many problems with the development of the ASN-GW equipment: longer developing duration and higher costs. Meanwhile, because of the deficient WiMAX Standard, the interoperability and expansibility of different manufactures’ products are not good enough. To solve these problems, the development of an commercial ASN-GW equipment is introduced and some experiences and tips are summarized during the developing activity. The thesis mainly researches design, implement and performance testing of the ASN-GW equipment. Main researches are as follows: The requirements and software module designing are introduced according to WiMAX Standards. Then, the ASN-GW equipments which is designed and developed under WiMAX Standards have been deployed in the Commercial WiMAX Solution; The main solution for AAA Interface module is to adopt High Availability technique to ensure the reliability. The disadvantage of High Availability mode is its bad expansibility. To solve this problem, the solution of AAA Domain mode is introduced. AAA Domain is a group of AAA Servers which can provide the same service. An AAA Domain can associate with many AAA Servers according to global configuration. The solution of AAA Domain can not only ensure reliability but also improve the flexibility and expansibility in the WiMAX system. An ASN-GW should provide DHCP service for Mobile Stations. The traditional solution is to deploy DHCP Server in the WiMAX Core Network which costs more. The DHCP Proxy and DHCP Relay functions are implemented at the same time in the ASN-GW. With DHCP Proxy mode, the ASN-GW can provide DHCP service for Mobile Station. So, Operators can reduce costs in WiMAX system construction and maintenance, especially at the very beginning.
