Abstract With the rapid development of WLAN technology,WLAN applications being more and more extensive and the protocols on it become the foucs of study.Protocol development is an integrated process,so conformace testing to a protocol is an important part.Meanwhile,the characteristics of the wireless protocol itself make it more necessary for conformance testing. Aiming at the actual situation, the article targets these specific issues, analyses protocol entities under test and protocol interaction from IEEE802.11b and brings forward the method of WLAN protocol conformance testing. Basing on the method, we make conformance test to the WLAN Secure Fast Handover Protocol which is developed by ourselves project team from the passive and active aspects. Among them, passive test using finite state machine (Finite State Machine, FSM) to describe the protocol, modeling protocol entity which is described by natural language using the finite state machine, from the protocol design specifications to determine the state transition and state transition conditions of the state machine, the finite state machine model of protocol interaction entities which contain authenticator AP, applicat STA and authentication server AS is designed. Key technologies such as local area network packet capture, filtering and analysis are mainly solved in the implementation process. Active Test is based on the formal description languageüüTTCN-3.It focuses on modules of the TTCN-3 core language, meanwhile analysis the existing testing frameworküüT3DevKit package and learning the development methods of interface and adapter. Finally, we design and implement the protocol conformance test system, set up an experimental platform to send and capture protocol interactive data packets and complete a protocol conformance testing to the protocol which is designed and implemented by project team.
