哈尔滨工业大学工学硕士学位论文 哈尔滨工业大学工学硕士学位论文 - - II - Abstract With the fast development of mobile communication technology, Wireless Local Aera Network (WLAN) has achieved significant progress bacause of its adavantages, such as high transmission speed, low deployment cost, and so on. However, the requirements by users for the support of movement of the network and the diversification of services, and so on, are nowdays much higher than ever before. Among all these challenges, how to guarantee the quality of service (QoS) requirement by the services like VOIP during the movement of mobile nodes (MNs) is one of the most important issues. In this paper, our research focus is mainly on the fast handoff mechanism in WLANs aiming at reducing the handoff delay during the handoff process. This thesis firstly introduces briefly the background and motivations, and then some fundamental about theMIPv6 and FMIPv6 in the existing WLAN technology. It is shownt that the scan delay takes around 90% of the layer II handoff delay in the horizontal handoff mechanism in WLANs. In order to reduce the scan delay during the layer II handoff process, a layer II handoff mechanism based on historical information of AP scanning are proposed. This thesis reasearched the delay of layer III handoff mechanism and proposed the motion detect with interacting between Layer II and Layer III algorithms and predict config address mechanism, the delay of motion detect and address configed were nearly reduced to zero. Last, Motion Management System (MMS) based the horizontal handoff mechanism in WLANs is impleted in embedded system and tested to validate the algorithms. In this paper, some useful techniques are developed to reduce either the layer II the handoff delay and the layer III handoff delay in in WLANs. We impleted MMS and VOIP in embedded system and movement setting and proposed a good reference about availability on VOIP in motion setting.
