Prose and next to Six Lue as they two got lot encouragement and support from the governors. Book on the Art of War Lue lost its importance then and falls behind the Poem and Prose; the learning and teaching of Medical Skill is more private and secrete and much less people know it, compared with Shu-Shu .
The value orientation of the editing order of Han Records is not reflected from the classification of its general aim but that of the sub-aim.
The respected position of Confucianism in Han Records is discussed in Chapter Four. The writer thinks that the period of Wu Emperor is the turning point of Confucianism from decline to bloom, though the common view is that it has got its unique emphasis after Wu Emperor addresses “Confucianism only”. Yet it is the latter Yuan and Cheng Emperor who make Confucianism really unique as they themselves respect is and become Confucians of their own. Han Records is the mark of the bloom of Confucianism, the summary of the learning in West Han, and a symbol of respecting Confucianism.
The Fifth Chapter is a monographic study on why Han Records put Chu Ci out of it, and on the classification and ordering of the prose in it.
It is not Ban Gu who follows the father and son of Liu, to delete Chu Ci from Han Records, he should mark a “deletion” or “omission” if did so, according to the style of it, yet there’s none. It is because Liu Xiang and Liu Xin didn’t collect books
completely. There are reasons why Liu Xiang put Chu Ci out of his Bie Lu— the
belief of writing then, the immaturity of the since of edition. Liu Xiang would not take credit to himself for this during such a period as people show their literal talent by “prose” and their knowledge by “Jing”.
The last is the classification and ordering of prose in Han Records. The antinomy in Han Records still can’t get its reason
