LanzhouM eteorological ureau, L anzhou 730020, China) Abstract: Using theNCEP data, a snowstorm process in thewest ofHexiCorridor, Gansu Province, from 14 to 15 M arch, 2005 was smi ulated by the mesoscale mode-lMM5. The results show that this snow storm weather process produces at jet flow axis from low level to high level nearby; the convergence of600~ 500hPa caused the ground air flow to move upward and formed the ground low-pressure system; the relative hum iditymaxmi um value between 750 ~ 450 hPa is basically consistentw ith convergence zone, and indicates that there is awater-vapor transfer channel nearby 600hPa. that is consistentw ith high level jet, the PV of 500 hPa level and ascending motive area and pro- vides the dynam ic, thermodynam ic and the vapor transfer process conditions for the snowstorm formation.
