But with the development of the urban rapid， many wastewater treatment plants can not meet the new national discharging standard. So，many of them would be upgraded and renovated．The requirement of the treated water increased as the country is paying more and more attention to environmental problems. In China， the standards of many wastewater treatment plants increased form 1 B to 1 A based on theMunicipal Wastewater Treatment Plant Pollutant Emission Standards(GB18918-2002). Thus require CODcr， BOD5， TN， TP， NH3-N set higher standards， not only from the selection process， but also from the stable operation of wastewater treatment plant. In the other hand， most of the wastewater treatment plants can not meet the requirement. So the upgrading of them is one of the most important things. The writer analized the operation of JIANXI wastewater treatment plants and reformed it to increase the quality of the water.In order to make sure that the quality of the water treated by it could meet the standard of 1 A. This paper concerns about the upgrading of JIANXI wastewater treatment plants， the emphases of which is on the comparison and determination of the treatment process．Through the adjusting of the process， the writer dicide to use improved A2/O nitrogen phosphorus removal process to upgrade the quality of the water from JIANXI wastewater treatment plants. At the same time writer use clarifier with high efficiency， Chlorine disinfection（now）to upgrade the depth treatment. The way of upgrading the treatment palnts which improved water quality under the lack of the space is the mainstream way.
