Abstract The fresh and simple language of the famous novel Zi Ye by Mao Dun possesses strong flavor of the times and significant personalized feature. The use of onomatopoeia makes the language full of rhythm beauty. Unique and vivid narrative language shows distinctive characters. The use of such rhetoric devices as metaphors visually expresses the author?s thought and feeling. Through the description of historical fact and prospect and the integration of realistic discourse and fictitious discourse, the novel reveals the realistic theme and embodies the uniqueness and diversity of fiction language style. As we know, text meaning is closely related to its language style, and how to transmit language style is one of the key points to successful translation. Stylistic marker theory summarized by Liu Miqing discusses transmission techniques and methods of language style of a literary work into its English version according to the original language style, and evaluates gains and losses of its English version in terms of style transmission. Compared to pure linguistic views, stylistic marker theory analyzes the language style from both micro and macro aspects, hence it can be used to objectively indentify fiction language style and guide the translation practice. According to stylistic marker theory, based on understanding of language style and stylistic markers of Zi Ye, by actual examples of style transmission, this thesis finds that its English version basically reflects many aspects of its original language style: selecting corresponding onomatopoeia by changing lexical category or adding complement element; imitating the original colloquialism; syntactic markers are recast to keep the original syntactic style and to convey the potential meaning; alternating narrative views according to the original text style; representing the original language style by imitating the plain language style reflecting symbolism expression; its English version transmits the realistic
