Oil and Gas Overview Saudi Arabia Thank You Good afternoon/morning. My name is Dave Rumney of the A. A. Turki Corporation. My thanks to Trade Partners UK and to the British Trade Office in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia for inviting me today. My thanks also to all of you who have taken time out of your busy schedules to be with us. I would like to tell you a little about the oil and gas industry in Saudi and the opportunities existing for British Companies there. In Saudi all Oil and Gas activities are government owned Includes Saudi Aramco and SABIC Other international players include BP, Conoco etc. Major terminals are dotted around the Arabian Peninsular and located where practical, near to the fields which they serve. Major oil fields are as shown Refining capacity available in 2002 was over 1.7 million barrels per day Blue line shows the rise and slight fall in the early eighties of crude consumption worldwide Green line indicates consumption and forecast for the developing world Figures taken from study by SAMBA in 2000 and based upon 1999 trends Since then these trends have been confirmed It can be seen that consumption by developing countries has more than doubled in the last thirty years It is expected that crude consumption by developing countries will continue grow at an ever faster rate whilst that consumed by industrialised nations will continue to increase overall at today’s rate This will result in a demand of over 100 million barrels per day by the year 2020 Worldwide, oil consumption rose by slightly less than 1 million barrels per day in 2000. World oil demand is projected to increase from 76.0 million barrels per day in 2000 to 118.9 million barrels per day in 2020. Petroleum demand is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 1.5 percent through 2020. Consistent with the historical growth, 1.65% 1980 to 1990, Oil remains the source for 40 percent share of world energy consumption through 2020. There is a trend to switch to natural gas and
