At the moment, this paper is near accomplishment. I want to acknowledge my great gratitude to my supervisor Professor Ji Zhemin. He guided me to open my way to study language teaching and research, and recommended many good works to me, which gave me many inspirations. During the process of this thesis writing, he offered me many instructions and valuable advices and dissolved all my confusions. College English teacher talk, differs with the language that teacher uses in other context, that is used to organize the English teaching activities, to convey language information and so on. Teacher talk is a significant factor of teaching researches. The analysis and study of teacher talk can explore the relationship between teacher talk and teaching effects. In EFL classes, teacher talk affects students learning and class atmosphere significantly.
This paper studies the teacher talk in English classes for non-English majors based on many teacher talk samples, to explore how the different teacher talk amount and language style
