No shared memory is allocated. Initialization mode An interim mode that occurs when the server is initialized and moving from Offline mode to Quiescent mode. Quiescent mode The oninit processes are running, shared-memory resources are allocated, but the system does not allow access to database users. Online mode The system is running and available for client access. Shutdown mode The system is running and current users are accessing the server, but no new users are allowed to connect. Recovery mode The system is performingfast recovery , or a restore of the system from backup is in process. Fast recovery occurs
