Unit 9 What does he look like? (Section A 2d~3d)
一. Teaching aims:
1. To help students master the usage of is and has in describing people’s looks and use alternative questions
2. To teach students to recognize the people according to the description of their looks.
二.Key teaching emphasis:
1. What does she look like?
2. He is really tall.
She has long straight hair.
3. Is he tall or short?
Does he have straight hair or curly hair?
三.Teaching procedure:
Step 1: Leading in: Review the appearance words. (2mins)
Teacher shows different pictures of people’s looks, and have students to describe them.
T: What does he look like?
S:He has short hair.
Step 2: Work on 2d ( 6mins)
1. Play the recording and have students to read after it, then answer some questions.
T: Look at this picture. The boy’s name is David, he is Mike s friend.Mike will invite David to go to the movies tonight.But Tony doesn’t know what David looks like.Let’s listen and try to read after the tape. After that, please answer the following questions.
(1)What are Mike and Tony going to do tonight?
(2) Where will Tony meet David?
(3)What does David look like?
2. Have students to underline the sentences that are used to describe people’s looks. And then role play the conversation.
Step 3: Summarize the grammar: the usage of is and has in describing people’s looks , use alternative questions and “What question ” (12 mins)
1. Have students to discuss the example sentences then find out the answers to the questions in their exercise paper.
2. Teacher corrects mistakes if needed.
3. Do some exercise in their exercise paper to consolidate the grammar
Step 4: Work on 3a and 3b . (6 mins)
1.Have students to finish 3a and 3b individually.
2.Have students to check the answer in groups by asking and answering.
3. Checks the answer together .
