Catering management, especially, as a fundamental part of college logistics group, is confronted with higher challenges as the traditional manual processing of related information brings about tremendous waste in man power and material resources. This explains the modern college catering management system appeared in most colleges, highlighting the coexistence of varied regions, campuses, and multi catering industrial culture. The college catering management system proposed in this paper enables the realization of informationalization of college catering service operation, therefore promises better service, and more cost reduction. Dealing with the catering management system of the logistics group in Shanxi Normal University, this paper analyzes the software framework, expounds on the features and merits of .NET platform in software development, and introduces the common techniques and development models of .NET platform. UML modeling technique, multi techniques under .NET platform, and major techniques such as ASP.NET, ADO.NET, and Web Services etc. are introduced in this paper. Based on the above research, and in combination with the business requirement of the catering management system in the logistics group at Shanxi Normal University, this paper puts forward the design and development of a catering management system in college logistics group, based on .NET platform, so as to validate the practicability of .NET in small and medium-sized information operation systems, and discuss the implementation of Web Services technique in catering management systems.
