Methods　A c oss-sectional study was conducted in 481 employees exposed to steady noise fo one yea o mo e without any ea diso de .Thei age, sex and hea ing we e investigated and noise level in the wo kplace we e monito ed.Results　Incidence of hea ing loss was 11.9%in the wo ke s exposed to noise.The e was significant diffe ence in noise level between the wo kplaces whe e those with and without hea ing loss wo ked and in length of exposu e to noise and index of exposu e to noise between wo ke s with and without hea ing loss (P 0.05), in a dose-esponse patte n.Conclusions 　Noise level, length of exposu e to noise and index of noise exposu e a e maj o facto s causing hea ing loss in the wo ke s exposed to noise, and especially the index of noise exposu e can be used to eflect the level of thei exposu e in a mo e pe fect way.
