These wetlands are physically, biologically and functionally different from natural wetlands, and landscape restoration of them has to adopt different goals and strategies. The landscape restoration of Expo Houtan Wetland focused on general conditions of remnant wetlands restoration. First of all, measures were taken to repair hydrological features and control bank erosion, and then expand wetland pitches and establish functional units for strengthening buffer capacity of wetland. Finally, plant conservation and reconstruction were accomplished on the base of ecological security. This project provides great experience for landscape restoration of remnant wetland habitats in urbanization.
