STRATEGIES OF SYNTAG1租METRAINING 时 TCFL GUIDED BY COGNITIVE THEORIES ABSTRACT How ωmake the students who study Chinese more coherent and theìr speeches more effectìve has been a focus in the practice of TCFL (Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language). Coherence in speech plays a vítal p町t in students communícative competence whích is emphasized in them巳dium and advanced stages of Chinese language teaching. However, disorganization, imrnaturity and redundancy have negative effects on the students speaking and writíng. So the training of making coherent sentences should be stressed in the medium and advanced stages of Chinese language teaching. 扭le training of coherent express.ion in the medium and advanced stages is normally divíded ínωtwo levels: s归ltagmeme and discourse. The fonner should be concentrated in the medium stage. 白le previous studies about the s严ltagmeme level are based on the theory of discourse linguistics and in the view of teaching. They cover a lot of areas such as error analysis of expressions,the significance of teachí吨, the contents, ways of training and guidel?nes in syntagmeme teaching,but they overlook the performance of the students cognit?on,cognitive competence and processín 也 because they pay less attention on s阳dying. Guided by the cogr由íve theories,也is paper aims ωdesígn the syntagmeme teaching in both the view of teachíng and studying. It provides a rearrangement of teaching contents and methods with multi-layer and diversified strategies. 机le paper 负nds that the utility of dìfferent strategi创 in the dìfferent stages of teaching,according to the cogn以ve psycholo即 and principles of students,helps them achieve better expression in syntagrneme level.
