Although there’s a great progress in treating pulmonary hypertension, the prognosis is poor. Genistein is a kind of phytoestrogen. Recent research have shown that genistein has protective effect on cardiovascular system. We examined the therapeutic effect of genistein in treating pulmonary hypertension, and compared with the effect of bosentan and tadalafil. This study will lay foundation for genistein investigation as a new type of drug for treating pulmonary hypertion with less cost and side effect. Objective: 1.To exmaine the effect of genistein in treating pulmonary hypertensive rats. 2.To compare the therapeutic effect of genistein, bosentan, and tadalfil for treating pulmonary hypertive rats. Methods: Monocrotaline-induced pulmonary hypertensive rat model was established by monocrotaline injection （ 50mg/kg ） . Pulmonary artery diameter, tricuspid regurgitation , average of pulmonary hypertion and the right ventricular hypertrophy index were increased significantly after 3 weeks of injection when compared with the control rats, indicating that pulmonary hypertension model was established in rat. Experimental group: 56 male SD rats weight in 250-300g were randomly devided into 5 groups and 3 sub-groups according to the drug and dose: (1) Normal control; (2) PAH: the pulmonary hypertension induced by monocrotaline; (3) Bosentan: PAH rats treated with Bosentan; (4) Tadalafil: PAH rats treat with Tadalafil; (5) Genistein: PAH rats treated with various doses of Genistein.
